Riga opens its wallet and acquires a promising Tunisian striker
https://sportacentrs.com/futbols/virsliga/29122025-riga_atver_macinu_un_iegust_perspektivu_t

Latvian champions Riga will soon sign 21-year-old striker Raki Aouani from Tunisian championship club Etoile Sportive du Sahel (ESS), Tunisian media reports. The striker has already passed a medical and the deal will be officially confirmed in the near future.

It is estimated that the Latvian champion will pay about 320 thousand euros for Aouani. The player had about six months left until the end of his contract with ESS, so in order for the club not to lose the player for nothing, it was more profitable to sell him now.

Aouani, who can play not only on both flanks, but also as a striker, has represented clubs in the ''Etoile Sportive du Sahel'' (ESS) system throughout his career. Aouani has played 111 official games for ESS, scoring 13 goals and providing 14 assists. This season in the Tunisian championship, he has stood out with four goals in 13 games.

The striker also has five caps for Tunisia's U20 national team, representing the team at the 2023 World Cup, where he played in three of the four matches, all as a substitute.

With Aouani joining, it is likely that Peruvian Joao Grimaldo, who was on loan from Serbian club Partizan Belgrade, will not remain in the Latvian champions' squad next season. Although Riga expressed interest in continuing the cooperation and acquiring the player, both clubs had different views on the player's value in the first rounds of negotiations and failed to reach an agreement.

• Tolu Arokodare equalised from the penalty spot in the 90th minute. It was the 25-year-old Nigerian striker's first goal in the Premier League, where he joined for €26 million this summer.

• But Arsenal secured the three points in the fourth minute of injury time. Saka, charging forward, crossed into the penalty area and Yerson Mosquera, after a challenge with Gabriel Jesus, headed the ball into his own net – 2-1. Thus, the London club won without scoring a single goal of their own.

LFF reduces legionnaires' fees and regulates 10 teams in the Premier League until 2027
https://sportacentrs.com/futbols/virsliga/18122025-lff_samazina_legionaru_maksu_un_10_komand

The board of the Latvian Football Federation has approved the regulations of the Premier League, 1st League and Latvian Cup for next year, including several significant changes.

In 2024, the first eight legionnaires were priced at three thousand euros each and the following seven at eight thousand each, in 2025 the federation raised the registration fee for all legionnaires to eight thousand for each. Next year, the first four legionnaires will again cost only three thousand each, the next four - six thousand each, and starting with the ninth legionnaire clubs will have to part with a new record amount - 10 thousand each.

In total, the registration cost for eight legionnaires will decrease from 64 thousand to 36 thousand (still 12 thousand more than in 2024), but 15 legionnaires can now be registered for 106 thousand, instead of the previous 120 thousand (in 2024, 15 legionnaires cost 80 thousand).

In 2026, 250 thousand euros from the legionnaires' fund will be used for VAR needs, 200 thousand - for referee payments, and the remaining amount will be divided according to the playing time of U21 Latvian citizens.

The LFF also revealed that "Ogre United" will receive 145 thousand euros from the UEFA Solidarity Fund for the 1st League title. 15% of the total UEFA Solidarity Fund has been allocated to the entire 1st League – a third of the amount goes to the champion, and the remaining two-thirds distributed among the remaining clubs (excluding reserve teams, i.e. 29 thousand for each club).

Superkausa spēle tiks organizēta Turcijā
https://lff.lv/zinas/18785/superkausa-spele-tiks-organizeta-turcija/

Auda has lost their attacking leader Josue Vergara. In the summer transfer window, Vergara moved to Belgian giants Gent, who finished fifth in the Belgian top flight, the Jupiler Pro League, last season. In the play-off for a place in next season's UEFA Conference League, Gent defeated Genk on penalties. The new season of the Belgian Championship will start on August 7.

Earlier in his career, Vergara had played in the Panamanian championship. At the age of 18, he joined Auda at the start of the year and managed to play 17 matches in the Premier League, scoring 13 goals and three assists, being the second best scorer of the tournament. For his effective performance, the striker also earned the Premier League's best player award for April.

Clan politics threaten the competitive credibility of the Virslīga

RFS loanees at other Virslīga clubs have played only a tiny fraction of their available minutes against RFS, while FK Liepāja’s loaned players have not played against their parent club at all. Taken separately, each case may have a reasonable explanation but, over time, they do create a pattern that is difficult to ignore.

The match between Super Nova and RFS on 29th of May became a focal point because several concerns appeared simultaneously. Loaned players were absent, other regular contributors were also unavailable, and a series of second-half substitutions weakened Super Nova, leaving more experienced alternatives on the bench. None of those elements alone would necessarily attract attention, but combined within a single match against one of the league’s dominant clubs fighting to retain their lead at the top, they inevitably raised questions.
