Lithuania-based Whitebit, a European cryptocurrency exchange with Ukrainian roots, has agreed to a long-term partnership with the national soccer team of Ukraine. Under the deal, its logo will be featured during the team’s matches, the crypto news outlet Forklog reported, quoting the company.

Whitebit becomes the team’s official crypto partner until 2026.

This is not Whitebit’s first endeavor in the world of football. In December 2022, the exchange became official partner of Spain’s soccer giant Barcelona.

Remiantis žurnale „Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine“ paskelbta 25 su sportu susijusių smegenų sukrėtimo tyrimų apžvalga, moterys gali būti jautresnės smegenų sukrėtimui, be to, po šio tipo traumos moterims pasireiškia sunkesni ir ilgesni simptomai nei vyrams.

Tačiau sporto ir fizinio aktyvumo mokslo tyrimuose moterims vis dar atstovaujama per mažai <net ir šiame centre – didžiausiame tokio pobūdžio centre pasaulyje – iš maždaug 12 190 smegenų tik 3 proc. priklausė moterims>. Tai, kaip perspėja ekspertai, reiškia, kad jos dažnai negauna reikiamo gydymo ar priežiūros po galvos traumos.

„Įrodyta, kad moterys sportininkės dažniau patiria smegenų sukrėtimą, jų atsigavimo laikotarpiai būna ilgesni“, – kalbėjo A.McKee. „Neturime pakankamai informacijos apie tai, kas vyksta moterų smegenyse. Nežinome, ar moterys yra biologiškai jautresnės šioms traumoms“, – sakė ji ir pridūrė, kad kai kurie tyrimai rodo, jog tam įtakos gali turėti moterų kaklo dydis ir raumenynas.

Remiantis žurnale „JAMA Network Open“ paskelbtais tyrimais, kurių metu buvo ištirta daugiau nei 80 tūkst. paauglių sportininkų, atlikus JAV vidurinių mokyklų futbolininkių tyrimą, nustatyta, kad jos beveik du kartus dažniau patiria smegenų sukrėtimą nei jų bendraamžiai vaikinai. Tačiau mokslininkams nerimą kelia ne tik smegenų sukrėtimai.

„Problema yra subklinikiniai smūgiai – smegenų nesukrečiančios traumos, kurios nėra nenustatomos, kurių per vieną sezoną gali būti šimtai ar net tūkstančiai“, – aiškino ji.

K.Snedaker sakė, kad sportininkės dažnai nežino, kad patyrė galvos traumą. Ji pažymėjo, kad jei jos ir patirdavo galvos traumas, nebuvo tinkamo medicinos ar sporto personalo, kuris galėtų apie tai pranešti.

Tam was left red faced when he was part of the Hibs team that were dumped out of the Intertoto Cup by FK Vetra Vilnius.
As a Hibs player I went to Lithuania, Latvia, Greece and Bulgaria. The real eye-opener was going to Lithuania in 2004 to face Vetra Vilnius in a game that was also Tony Mowbray’s second European tie as manager.

Their stadium was like a junior ground, we lost 1-0 and that was us out of the Intertoto Cup at the first time of asking. Mowbray had just been appointed and we’d only had one week of pre-season before those two games. We were caught well undercooked.

We’d drawn the first leg 1-1 at Easter Road. The game was played out in torrential rain and we then went to Vilnius when they were already halfway through their season while we were half fit.

We fielded a strong side. Scott Brown played, as did Garry O’Connor, so to lose to them was a joke. But it was only early July and most of us had just got off the plane from our holidays. If it had been two months into our season, we’d have hammered them. But we’d only been in the door a week.

These excuses won’t apply for these games coming up. To be fair, Hibs have managed to take care of the minnows over the past couple of seasons, so that should bode well. It’s about fitness and professionalism.

THEY say age is nothing but a number. And young entrepreneur Henry Wright is proving the old adage true after becoming a football owner – at the age of 19.

After being rejected at professional football trials in Lithuania last summer left him heartbroken, Henry made the bold decision to launch a brand new club in his home village.

Elmstead Market FC was formed and they are now going from strength to strength, in Essex and Suffolk Border League division five.

Henry, who is now 20 and is also Elmstead Market FC's first team assistant manager and first-team coach, could be the world’s youngest football club owner.

He said: “I wanted to keep going with my football career but I thought I would take the step towards making my own football club. I contacted the Essex and Suffolk Border League and asked if I could start a new team up and enter it in the league and they came back and said they were happy to have us affiliated.

“I had to come up with ten roles like welfare officer, manager, assistant manager, chairman and safeguarding officer and at first, I had myself down for everything!

“At first, it really was just my friends and it started with a core of about 16 of us but it was a bit of a domino effect. Now we have over 100 people with two teams – a first team and a reserves – and we’re looking to get an under-18s for next season.

Теперь сто лет исполняется первой в истории Олимпиаде для Литвы – тогда Игры тоже проходили в Париже, а от молодой страны туда отправились два велосипедиста и футбольная команда. А ее вратарем был уроженец Минска Валерийонас Бальчюнас – человек насыщенной судьбы. Расскажем о нем подробнее.

Бальчюнас родился 27 ноября 1904 года в Минске – не осталось информации, что там делали его родители, но в целом на рубеже XIX и XX веков литовцы перебирались в более крупные города Российской империи для учебы или работы на промышленных предприятиях. При этом, согласно переписи 1897 года, из жителей Минска литовский язык родным считали всего 43 человека из общего населения в 91 тысячу. Для сравнения, тогда же в 155-тысячном Вильнюсе беларусский родным назвали 6,5 тысячи человек.

Благодаря выпуску литовской эмигрантской газеты Draugas за январь 1985-го известно, что Бальчюнасы вернулись в Литву после окончания Первой мировой войны. Семья поселилась в Каунасе, который после отхода Вильнюса Польше в 1922-м стал столицей литовского государства.

В Литве Бальчюнас стал известен как популяризатор футбола. В 1923-м 18-летний парень стал сооснователем и первым главой литовской футбольной лиги, в которой начал играть вратарем за каунасский «Ковас». Тогда команда была сильнейшей в стране и вместе с Бальчюнасом трижды завоевывала золото в 1924-1926 годах.

Также в 1923-м была организована и сборная Литвы, которая свой первый матч проиграла Эстонии 0:5. А в 1924-м в последний момент решено было участвовать в Олимпиаде – отборов тогда не было, брали все сборные. Таковых в итоге набралось 22, а к играм допускались и профессионалы. Некоторые команды по жребию начинали сразу со второго раунда плей-офф, но Литве пришлось играть с первого.

Из-за проблем с деньгами, которые решились в последний момент, литовцы отправлялись на ОИ в спешке – набрали, как смогли, 11 человек на выезд и, даже не потренировавшись дома, погрузились на поезд из Каунаса во французскую столицу. Ехали 40 часов, по дороге еле решили проблему с транзитными визами и прибыли в олимпийскую деревню среди ночи 25 мая – а уже через 12 часов надо было играть с сильной Швейцарией. Исход получился предсказуемым – в присутствии восьми тысяч зрителей литовцы проиграли 0:9. Победители потом дошли до финала, где уступили Уругваю. А у Литвы олимпийский опыт закончился – с итоговым последним, 17-м местом в протоколе. Но это до сих пор единственный раз, когда литовский футбол был в принципе представлен на ОИ.

Через два дня после разгрома от Швейцарии литовцы провели спарринг с Египтом – он стартовал на ОИ со второго раунда и еще разминался. Тут для Литвы получилось 0:10 – и это поражение переписало антирекорд и по сей день остается крупнейшим в истории сборной. Бальчюнас, самый молодой игрок команды, в обоих матчах был ее единственным вратарем – и не лучшим образом вошел в ее историю.

При этом для 19-летнего кипера то были первые игры за сборную. До того ее ворота защищал представитель каунасского ЛФЛС Стяпонас Дарюс, который по каким-то причинам не поехал в Париж. Впрочем, у Дарюса и без футбола была очень насыщенная жизнь. Во время Первой мировой он ушел добровольцем в армию США, в начале 1920-х сражался за литовскую независимость, а потом прошел летные курсы и стал пилотом – а параллельно занимался кучей видов спорта: имел медали в футбольном, хоккейном, баскетбольном, конькобежном и легкоатлетическом чемпионатах Литвы.

Бальчюнас же после Парижа-1924 провел за Литву еще три «товарняка» – дважды играл против Эстонии (2:1, 1:3), а последним матчем в 1926-м стал каунасский спарринг с Латвией (2:3). Таким образом, кипер в пяти матчах за сборную пропустил 26 мячей.

В 1927-м Бальчюнас закончил карьеру футболиста и начал судить матчи. В 1936-м стал соучередителем литовской коллегии арбитров, в которой работал первые годы после ее создания. Как рефери Бальчюнас провел пять международных матчей с 1928 по 1940 годы. Интересно, что во всех случаях это были товарищеские игры с участием Латвии. Трижды эта сборная противостояла Эстонии (1:1, 2:0, 1:2), а также по разу Швеции (1:1) и Финляндии (1:1).

Бальчюнас развивался не только в футболоме. В мае 1939 года Кауснас принял чемпионат Европы по баскетболу – и минчанин оказался главным судьей турнира. А в Литовском союзе игр с мячом Бальчюнас не только возглавлял футбольный комитет, но и заведовал направлением спортивной пропаганды. При этом у Бальчюнаса была основная работа – в 1932-м он получил диплом Университета Витовта Великого в Каунасе, после чего стал начальником управления статистики Министерства сельского хозяйства. В основном Бальчюнас занимался описанием и подсчетом землеустройства литовских деревень.

Бальчюнас завершил работу в спорте после аннексии Литвы Советским Союзом в 1940-м, но не стал уезжать за границу, оставшись в Каунасе. В следующем году он выпустил научную работу о присоединенных к СССР регионах Литвы. Остался Бальчюнас в Каунасе и после занятия города немцами, но когда летом 1944-го в Каунас входила советская армия, поехал в Германию, где руководил лагерем литовских беженцев в Геттингене до 1949-го, когда отправился в США. Там экс-футболист позже основал и возглавил первую национальную организацию литовцев.

В Америке Бальчюнас первое время работал на фабрике пишущих машинок, а в 1958-м окончил с отличием инженерный факультет колледжа и занялся преподавательской деятельностью. До 1972-го он учил математике в Хартфорде и Мидлтауне, а затем уехал жить во Флориду. Параллельно бывший вратарь руководил центрами общин в различных городах, а также помогал готовить программы для литовской радиостанции «Звук Родины». В декабре 1984-го, вскоре после своего 80-летия, Бальчюнас умер в Помпано-Бич (Флорида).
